Angus is an accomplished security professional with over 20 years experience in both the corporate world and private sector security environments. He arrived in Africa for the first time in 1996 and ventured into the Close Protection industry. Angus is a qualified, certified Level 5 International Close Protection Officer, International Tactical Instructor, and holds qualifications in FREC 3 and Tactical First Aid among many others.

Angus’ passion for the global Close Protection industry and his love affair with Africa have led him to where he finds himself today. His mission is simple — to offer the best possible training, delivered by the world’s best instructors, using the best possible facilities and training material, to equip individuals from all around the world with the best skills available. Mulandi has served as Operations Manager and Director at Stoni Athi Resort (SAR) since 2019 and is responsible for the development of all training facilities at the ARES Training Academy at Stoni Athi. Under his leadership, Stoni Athi Resort has experienced significant growth and success from its inception, and he remains committed to its development and excellence. In addition to his hospitality expertise, Mulandi brings extensive experience in weapon handling. As a weapons instructor at the Athi Shooting Range, he shares his lifelong passion for safe and responsible firearm handling and marksmanship. He currently manages the Athi Shooting Range, overseeing operations and upholding the highest standards of safety and quality. His wealth of knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset to the ARES team.

David Whitworth

David had an extensive military career serving with the United Kingdom’s Parachute Regiment, Pathfinder Platoon and Special Forces. Since leaving the military, he has specialised in executive protection, secure logistics and risk management in support of numerous high-profile media clients, blue-chip companies, royalty and high-net-worth individuals. In 2008, David moved to the Middle East to develop a bespoke military training concept, delivered to several Middle East Special Forces teams. In 2012, he became co-owner of Emerald and expanded capability into Africa, the Americas and the Far East. He has established dedicated teams across all areas of operations and continues to ensure standards are met and client relations maintained, having taken on the role of Group Managing Director in late 2021.
